Salehi expects Iran-IAEA talks to continue

altTEHRAN – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says Iran expects that its negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency will continue.
“We expect the dialogue that has started will continue,” Salehi told reporters after giving a speech to the UN-sponsored Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, Reuters reported.
Iran rejected requests by the IAEA delegations to inspect the Parchin military site, which is located southeast of Tehran, during their visits to Iran from January 29 to 31 and February 21 to 22.
Iran’s Ambassador to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, said on February 24 that a framework had to be agreed on for any access or visit.
“There was some disagreement on drafting an initial framework that would set the ground for a new roadmap as how to proceed,” Salehi said, adding, “We are optimistic” that upcoming meetings between the high delegation of the IAEA and the Iranian side will be proceeding hopefully in the right direction.
