VATICAN CITY (CNS) — The Catholic Church needs to revive its loving and tender side, which gets lost when the church becomes too serious, Pope Francis said.

The church has ended up with “deviations, sects and heresies when it got too serious, that is, when it took things here too seriously and it forgot about embracing and tenderness,” he told representatives of Caritas Internationalis — the umbrella organization of national Catholic charities around the world.

The maternal, tender side of the church is a value “that the mother church cannot lose,” he said.

The pope made his comments during a 45-minute informal meeting with Caritas Internationalis’ executive committee, its secretary-general, Michel Roy; and its president, Honduran Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga of Tegucigalpa.

Regional presidents of the Vatican-based umbrella group presented summaries of the situation in their regions. Roy also presented the pope with a small basket of bread to symbolize the more than 1 billion people who go hungry in the world and to highlight a new campaign Caritas will launch this year to fight world hunger.

The pope talked about 15 minutes off-the-cuff in Spanish, responding broadly to questions representatives had posed earlier. He touched on four points in his remarks: the crises plaguing the world, love, development and spirituality.

A church without charity doesn’t exist,” the pope said, thanking Caritas for its “dual dimensions” of social action and mystical, spiritual dimension.

“Caritas is the church’s caress to her people,” showing tenderness and understanding toward their needs, he said, according to partial translations supplied by Vatican Radio and the Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano.

The search for truth and the study of the Catholic truth are other important dimensions of the church which are carried out by theologians” and transmitted through catechesis and exegesis.

“Caritas is the love inside the mother church that approaches, embraces and loves” people, he said. (When church is too serious, it loses its loving, tender side, Bergoglio says.)

Tell you what, Jorge, we don’t take you very seriously as you try to posit a false dichotomy between Holy Mother Church’s obligations to teach the immutable truths contained in the Sacred Deposit of Faith in all of their Holy Integrity and “caritas” as true love wills the good of the other, the ultimate expression of which is the salvation of his immortal soul.

It is not “charitable” to leave unrepentant sinners without correct or, worse yet, to reaffirm them in their sins.

It is not “charitable” to let heretics poison the minds of Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

It is not “charitable” to reaffirm adherents of false religions in their falsehoods and/or to give even the slightest impression that those false religions are pleasing in the sight of the true God of Divine Revelation, the Most Blessed Trinity.

It is not “charitable” to engage in “inter-religious prayer” or to treat places of false worship as “sacred” in the eyes of God.

Catholics believe in the Spiritual Works of Mercy, Jorge. Here is a little review for you:

  • To instruct the ignorant.
  • To counsel the doubtful.
  • To admonish sinners.
  • To bear wrongs patiently;
  • To forgive offences willingly;
  • To comfort the afflicted;
  • To pray for the living and the dead.

Catholics also believe that there are nine ways that they can be accessories to the sins of others:

  • 1. By counsel.
  • 2. By command.
  • 3. By consent.
  • 4. By provocation.
  • 5. By praise or flattery of the evil done.
  • 6. By silence.
  • 7. By connivance.
  • 8. By partaking.
  • 9. By defense of the ill done.

Conciliarism is by its very false nature uncharitable as it makes a mockery of the authentic, immutable teaching that Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by making it appear that it is somehow opposed to tenderness and mercy to follow these words that Saint Paul wrote in his Second Epistle to Saint Timothy:

 

[1] I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: [2] Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. [3] For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: [4] And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. [5] But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Be sober. (2 Tim. 4: 1-15.)

Holy Mother Church’s disciplinary powers have been given to her by her Divine Founder and Invisible Head, Christ the King, to warn and, if necessary, to punish her children who have strayed from the truth by embracing some kind of heresy or error or who have plunged themselves headlong into lives of wanton sin. Pope Saint Gregory the Great warned bishops of of their grave obligations to discipline souls when necessity compels them to do so:

The Lord reproaches them through the prophet: They are dumb dogs that cannot bark. On another occasion he complains: You did not advance against the foe or set up a wall in front of the house of Israel, so that you might stand fast in battle on the day of the Lord. To advance against the foe involves a bold resistance to the powers of this world in defense of the flock. To stand fast in battle on the day of the Lord means to oppose the wicked enemy out of love for what is right.

When a pastor has been afraid to assert what is right, has he not turned his back and fled by remaining silent? Whereas if he intervenes on behalf of the flock, he sets up a wall against the enemy in front of the house of Israel. Therefore, the Lord again says to his unfaithful people: Your prophets saw false and foolish visions and did not point out your wickedness, that you might repent of your sins. The name of the prophet is sometimes given in the sacred writings to teachers who both declare the present to be fleeting and reveal what is to come. The word of God accuses them of seeing false visions because they are afraid to reproach men for their faults and thereby lull the evildoer with an empty promise of safety. Because they fear reproach, they keep silent and fail to point out the sinner’s wrongdoing.

The word of reproach is a key that unlocks a door, because reproach reveals a fault of which the evildoer is himself often unaware. That is why Paul says of the bishop: He must be able to encourage men in sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it. For the same reason God tells us through Malachi: The lips of the priest are to preserve knowledge, and men shall look to him for the law, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. Finally, that is also the reason why the Lord warns us through Isaiah: Cry out and be not still; raise your voice in a trumpet call.

Anyone ordained a priest undertakes the task of preaching, so that with a loud cry he may go on ahead of the terrible judge who follows. If, then, a priest does not know how to preach, what kind of cry can such a dumb herald utter? It was to bring this home that the Holy Ghost descended in the form of tongues on the first pastors, for he causes those whom he has filled, to speak out spontaneously. This is a salutary warning to any Catholic priest/presbyter has the duties of a shepherd, whether is one in fact or not.

So many priests and presbyters in the counterfeit church of conciliarism assuage themselves with the canard that “it’s not my job” to oppose the apostasies and errors and blasphemies and sacrileges of the conciliar “pontiffs” and their ‘bishops.” They do not believe that it is their “job” to defend the honor and glory and majesty of God something that the current apostate emeritus, Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, did as he praised false religions and esteems their symbols with his own priestly hands and dared to say that “Christians and Jews worship the same Lord.” These men, and they know who they are, are very badly mistaken as they prefer their own “good standing” in a false church rather than to speak up manfully in defense of the honor and glory and majesty of God. Career security, pensions, health-insurance and human respect are what matter to men who consider themselves to be shepherds but who choose not to raise their voice in defense of God’s honor and majesty and glory and to oppose openly the sacrileges committed by a so-called “pontiff,” choosing to remain “in communion” with a man whose words and actions demonstrate that he is possessed of the spirit of Modernism, not Catholicism.

Mind you, I am not speaking here of those priests or presbyters in the conciliar structures who are thoroughly immersed in conciliarism and believe that its tenets and pastoral practices are the work of God the Holy Ghost, oblivious to the truths of the Faith and to the simple truth that God cannot contradict Himself. I am speaking here of those priests and presbyters in the conciliar structures, including those in the Motu communities, who know what is right and who seek to protect themselves and their clerical careers rather than to oppose error and to defend the truth, thereby deceiving the flocks who look to them as shepherds that all must be well in Rome as the “pope” does and says things that reaffirm them in a spirit of practical religious indifferentism.

Obviously, there is an application of Pope Saint Gregory the Great’s Book of Pastoral Rule to those shepherds in the Catholic catacombs who have chosen to ignore evil within their own ranks, preferring silence rather than coming to the defense of those who have sought with courage and valor the innocence and the purity of the young and to oppose a schismatic mentality that has banished so many sheep from the reception of the Sacraments and caused some to lose the Holy Faith altogether. How any true shepherd can be silent about publicly known actions that have caused a single Catholic, no less many, to lose the Faith is a scandal in and of itself. May they be inspired by the words of Pope Saint Gregory the Great to confront evil and to call it by its proper name.

One of Pope Gregory the Great’s legitimate, true successors on the Throne of Saint of Peter, Pope Leo XIII, reiterated this theme in Sapientiae Christianae, January 10, 1890:

But in this same matter, touching Christian faith, there are other duties whose exact and religious observance, necessary at all times in the interests of eternal salvation, become more especially so in these our days. Amid such reckless and widespread folly of opinion, it is, as We have said, the office of the Church to undertake the defense of truth and uproot errors from the mind, and this charge has to be at all times sacredly observed by her, seeing that the honor of God and the salvation of men are confided to her keeping. But, when necessity compels, not those only who are invested with power of rule are bound to safeguard the integrity of faith, but, as St. Thomas maintains: “Each one is under obligation to show forth his faith, either to instruct and encourage others of the faithful, or to repel the attacks of unbelievers.” To recoil before an enemy, or to keep silence when from all sides such clamors are raised against truth, is the part of a man either devoid of character or who entertains doubt as to the truth of what he professes to believe. In both cases such mode of behaving is base and is insulting to God, and both are incompatible with the salvation of mankind. This kind of conduct is profitable only to the enemies of the faith, for nothing emboldens the wicked so greatly as the lack of courage on the part of the good. Moreover, want of vigor on the part of Christians is so much the more blameworthy, as not seldom little would be needed on their part to bring to naught false charges and refute erroneous opinions, and by always exerting themselves more strenuously they might reckon upon being successful. After all, no one can be prevented from putting forth that strength of soul which is the characteristic of true Christians, and very frequently by such display of courage our enemies lose heart and their designs are thwarted. Christians are, moreover, born for combat, whereof the greater the vehemence, the more assured, God aiding, the triumph: “Have confidence; I have overcome the world.” Nor is there any ground for alleging that Jesus Christ, the Guardian and Champion of the Church, needs not in any manner the help of men. Power certainly is not wanting to Him, but in His loving kindness He would assign to us a share in obtaining and applying the fruits of salvation procured through His grace.

The chief elements of this duty consist in professing openly and unflinchingly the Catholic doctrine, and in propagating it to the utmost of our power. For, as is often said, with the greatest truth, there is nothing so hurtful to Christian wisdom as that it should not be known, since it possesses, when loyally received, inherent power to drive away error. So soon as Catholic truth is apprehended by a simple and unprejudiced soul, reason yields assent.  (Pope Leo XIII, Sapientiae Christianae, January 10, 1890.)

Pope Pius VI put the matter this way in his first encyclical letter, Inscrutabile, December 25, 1775:

You yourselves, established as scouts in the house of Israel, see clearly the many victories claimed by a philosophy full of deceit. You see the ease with which it attracts to itself a great host of peoples, concealing its impiety with the honorable name of philosophy. Who could express in words or call to mind the wickedness of the tenets and evil madness which it imparts? While such men apparently intend to search out wisdom, “they fail because they do not search in the proper way. . . and they fall into errors which lead them astray from ordinary wisdom.” They have come to such a height of impiety that they make out that God does not exist, or if He does that He is idle and uncaring, making no revelation to men. Consequently it is not surprising that they assert that everything holy and divine is the product of the minds of inexperienced men smitten with empty fear of the future and seduced by a vain hope of immortality. But those deceitful sages soften and conceal the wickedness of their doctrine with seductive words and statements; in this way, they attract and wretchedly ensnare many of the weak into rejecting their faith or allowing it to be greatly shaken. While they pursue a remarkable knowledge, they open their eyes to behold a false light which is worse than the very darkness. Naturally our enemy, desirous of harming us and skilled in doing so, just as he made use of the serpent to deceive the first human beings, has armed the tongues of those men with the poison of his deceitfulness in order to lead astray the minds of the faithful. The prophet prays that his soul may be delivered from such deceitful tongues. In this way these men by their speech “enter in lowliness, capture mildly, softly bind and kill in secret.” This results in great moral corruption, in license of thought and speech, in arrogance and rashness in every enterprise.

When they have spread this darkness abroad and torn religion out of men’s hearts, these accursed philosophers proceed to destroy the bonds of union among men, both those which unite them to their rulers, and those which urge them to their duty. They keep proclaiming that man is born free and subject to no one, that society accordingly is a crowd of foolish men who stupidly yield to priests who deceive them and to kings who oppress them, so that the harmony of priest and ruler is only a monstrous conspiracy against the innate liberty of man.

Everyone must understand that such ravings and others like them, concealed in many deceitful guises, cause greater ruin to public calm the longer their impious originators are unrestrained. They cause a serious loss of souls redeemed by Christ’s blood wherever their teaching spreads, like a cancer; it forces its way into public academies, into the houses of the great, into the palaces of kings, and even enters the sanctuary, shocking as it is to say so.

Consequently, you who are the salt of the earth, guardians and shepherds of the Lord’s flock, whose business it is to fight the battles of the Lord, arise and gird on your sword, which is the word of God, and expel this foul contagion from your lands. How long are we to ignore the common insult to faith and Church? Let the words of Bernard arouse us like a lament of the spouse of Christ: “Of old was it foretold and the time of fulfillment is now at hand: Behold, in peace is my sorrow most sorrowful. It was sorrowful first when the martyrs died; afterwards it was more sorrowful in the fight with the heretics and now it is most sorrowful in the conduct of the members of the household…. The Church is struck within and so in peace is my sorrow most sorrowful. But what peace? There is peace and there is no peace. There is peace from the pagans and peace from the heretics, but no peace from the children. At that time the voice will lament: Sons did I rear and exalt, but they despised me. They despised me and defiled me by a bad life, base gain, evil traffic, and business conducted in the dark.” Who can hear these tearful complaints of our most holy mother without feeling a strong urge to devote all his energy and effort to the Church, as he has promised? Therefore cast out the old leaven, remove the evil from your midst. Forcefully and carefully banish poisonous books from the eyes of your flock, and at once courageously set apart those who have been infected, to prevent them harming the rest. The holy Pope Leo used to say, “We can rule those entrusted to us only by pursuing with zeal for the Lord’s faith those who destroy and those who are destroyed and by cutting them off from sound minds with the utmost severity to prevent the plague spreading.” In doing this We exhort and advise you to be all of one mind and in harmony as you strive for the same object, just as the Church has one faith, one baptism, and one spirit. As you are joined together in the hierarchy, so you should unite equally with virtue and desire.

The affair is of the greatest importance since it concerns the Catholic faith, the purity of the Church, the teaching of the saints, the peace of the empire, and the safety of nations. Since it concerns the entire body of the Church, it is a special concern of yours because you are called to share in Our pastoral concern, and the purity of the faith is particularly entrusted to your watchfulness. “Now therefore, Brothers, since you are overseers among God’s people and their soul depends on you, raise their hearts to your utterance,” that they may stand fast in faith and achieve the rest which is prepared for believers only. Beseech, accuse, correct, rebuke and fear not: for ill-judged silence leaves in their error those who could be taught, and this is most harmful both to them and to you who should have dispelled the error. The holy Church is powerfully refreshed in the truth as it struggles zealously for the truth. In this divine work you should not fear either the force or favor of your enemies. The bishop should not fear since the anointing of the Holy Spirit has strengthened him: the shepherd should not be afraid since the prince of pastors has taught him by his own example to despise life itself for the safety of his flock: the cowardice and depression of the hireling should not dwell in a bishop’s heart. Our great predecessor Gregory, in instructing the heads of the churches, said with his usual excellence: “Often imprudent guides in their fear of losing human favor are afraid to speak the right freely. As the word of truth has it, they guard their flock not with a shepherd’s zeal but as hirelings do, since they flee when the wolf approaches by hiding themselves in silence….

A shepherd fearing to speak the right is simply a man retreating by keeping silent.” But if the wicked enemy of the human race, the better to frustrate your efforts, ever brings it about that a plague of epidemic proportions is hidden from the religious powers of the world, please do not be terrified but walk in God’s house in harmony, with prayer, and in truth, the three arms of our service. Remember that when the people of Juda were defiled, the best means of purification was the public reading to all, from the least to the greatest, of the book of the law lately found by the priest Helcias in the Lord’s temple; at once the whole people agreed to destroy the abominations and seal a covenant in the Lord’s presence to follow after the Lord and observe His precepts, testimonies and ceremonies with their whole heart and soul.” For the same reason Josaphat sent priests and Levites to bring the book of the law throughout the cities of Juda and to teach the people. The proclamation of the divine word has been entrusted to your faith by divine, not human, authority. So assemble your people and preach to them the gospel of Jesus Christ. From that divine source and heavenly teaching draw draughts of true philosophy for your flock. Persuade them that subjects ought to keep faith and show obedience to those who by God’s ordering lead and rule them. To those who are devoted to the ministry of the Church, give proofs of faith, continence, sobriety, knowledge, and liberality, that they may please Him to whom they have proved themselves and boast only of what is serious, moderate, and religious. But above all kindle in the minds of everyone that love for one another which Christ the Lord so often and so specifically praised. For this is the one sign of Christians and the bond of perfection. (Pope Pius VI, Inscrutabile, December 25, 1775.)

Jorge Mario Bergoglio’s mockery of what he disparages as taking “things too seriously” in favor of being “charitable,” especially to the poor, is a mockery of the descent of God the Holy Ghost upon the Apostles and our dear Blessed Mother on Pentecost Sunday as the missionary work of the Catholic Church, she who can never err in matters of Faith, Worship or Morals, was taken seriously in complete fidelity to the Divine Redeemer, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Saint Thomas Aquinas himself dealt with this exact contention over seven hundred forty years ago now, showing us that heresy is indeed a very serious matter and is punishable by death after due warnings:

On the contrary, The Decretal Ad abolendam (De Haereticis, cap. ix) says that “those who are found to have relapsed into the error which they had already abjured, must be left to the secular tribunal.” Therefore they should not be received by the Church.

I answer that, In obedience to Our Lord’s institution, the Church extends her charity to all, not only to friends, but also to foes who persecute her, according to Matthew 5:44: “Love your enemies; do good to them that hate you.” Now it is part of charity that we should both wish and work our neighbor’s good. Again, good is twofold: one is spiritual, namely the health of the soul, which good is chiefly the object of charity, since it is this chiefly that we should wish for one another. Consequently, from this point of view, heretics who return after falling no matter how often, are admitted by the Church to Penance whereby the way of salvation is opened to them.

The other good is that which charity considers secondarily, viz. temporal good, such as life of the body, worldly possessions, good repute, ecclesiastical or secular dignity, for we are not bound by charity to wish others this good, except in relation to the eternal salvation of them and of others. Hence if the presence of one of these goods in one individual might be an obstacle to eternal salvation in many, we are not bound out of charity to wish such a good to that person, rather should we desire him to be without it, both because eternal salvation takes precedence of temporal good, and because the good of the many is to be preferred to the good of one. Now if heretics were always received on their return, in order to save their lives and other temporal goods, this might be prejudicial to the salvation of others, both because they would infect others if they relapsed again, and because, if they escaped without punishment, others would feel more assured in lapsing into heresy. For it is written (Ecclesiastes 8:11): “For because sentence is not speedily pronounced against the evil, the children of men commit evils without any fear.”

For this reason the Church not only admits to Penance those who return from heresy for the first time, but also safeguards their lives, and sometimes by dispensation, restores them to the ecclesiastical dignities which they may have had before, should their conversion appear to be sincere: we read of this as having frequently been done for the good of peace. But when they fall again, after having been received, this seems to prove them to be inconstant in faith, wherefore when they return again, they are admitted to Penance, but are not delivered from the pain of death. As we know all to well, Jorge Mario Bergoglio/Francis does not take this kind of “stuff” seriously. That was in the past. Saint Thomas Aquinas was just too “serious.” So were all those who attended Holy Mother Church’s true general councils, especially the Council of Florence, the Council of Trent and the [First] Vatican Council as they put the Church into a “box” wherein she is alleged to have lost her “tenderness” and “mercy” and “charity for the poor.”

Well, here is what the Apostle of Charity, Saint Francis de Sales, had to say on the matter:

 

 

The declared enemies of God and His Church, heretics and schismatics, must be criticized as much as possible, as long as truth is not denied.

 

It is a work of charity to shout: “Here is the wolf!” when it enters the flock or anywhere else. (Saint Francis de Sales, Introduction to the Devout Life, part III, chap. 29)

Some have written to me to think that my own work is “uncharitable.” Please refer to the passage from Saint Francis Sales’s Introduction to the Devout Life as it is necessary to identify the wolf and to criticize him, yes, even using mockery and scorn as such people are deserving of no respect whatsoever.

Yes, Jorge Mario Bergoglio does not take seriously, for example, the Catholic Church’s consistent condemnations of his own beliefs and actions, which are those of the conciliar revolution itself, as he promotes propositions that are contrary to right reason and Divine Revelation.

To wit, Bergoglio/Francis attempted just a few days ago to turn the Edict of Milan into a veritable witness in behalf of conciliarism’s “religious liberty,” repeating the essential contention in Dignitatis Humanae, December 7, 1965, that adherents of false religions have a right from God to express themselves freely:

Vatican City, 16 May 2013 (VIS) – The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew I, is visiting Milan, on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, signed by Constantine and Licinius, respectively the emperors of the western and eastern parts of the Roman Empire, in 313. The treaty granted freedom of worship to Christians throughout the Roman Empire, putting an end to religious persecution.

For his visit, Pope Francis, yesterday afternoon, sent a message—through Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., to Cardinal Angelo Scola, archbishop of Milan, with greetings to the Patriarch, the participants in the commemoration, as well as to the entire city, “for the importance given to the memory of the historic decision that, decreeing religious freedom for Christians, opened new paths to the Gospel and decisively contributed to the birth of European civilization.”

In the text, the Holy Father expresses the desire that, “today as then, the common witness of Christians of the East and West, sustained by the Spirit of the Risen One, will agree to the spread of the message of salvation in Europe and the entire world and that, thanks to the foresight of civil authorities, the right to publicly express one’s faith will be respected everywhere, and that the contribution that Christianity continues to offer to culture and society in our time will be accepted without prejudice.” (Jorge’s message commemorating edict of Milan.)

Only a few points need to be made about his typical concilarspeak elegy in behalf of the heresy of “religious liberty.”

First, the See of Constantinople was united to the See of Saint Peter at the time of the Edict of Milan. It has been in schism from the See of Saint Peter since 1054 (yes, we are facing not only the prospect of the quincentennial of Martin Luther’s posting his ninety-five theses on the door of Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, on October 31, 1517, but the prospect of the celebration of the Millennial anniversary of the Greek Schism in forty-one years if God does not intervene prior to that time). It is thus blasphemous and a distortion of history to contend that “Christians of the East and West” give a “common witness” today as they did seventeen hundred years ago as the Orthodox hold to various heretical propositions and are in schism from the Catholic Church. And, yes, Jorge, Catholics are supposed to take this very, very seriously.

Second, the fact that there is a “prejudice” against Christianity in Europe today is the precisely the result of the Protestant Revolutions’s overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King that paved the way for the triumph of the Judeo-Masonic naturalism and thus of the religious indifferentism of the modern civil state. Error and moral decay must follow in the wake of the overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ King. Yet it is that conciliarism exalts both separation of Church and State and “religious liberty” even though our true popes have warned us that men and their nations would fall into the abyss if such falsehoods became the foundation of governments and the basis of social life.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio thus does not take too seriously the condemnations and prophetic warnings about separation of Church and State and religious liberty that have been referenced many times, including a week ago today in Memo To Timothy Michael Dolan: Catholics Never Say “We Used To Say”. Here is just a little reminder of Catholic teaching that Bergoglio/Francis does not take “too seriously” at all as he rejects it out of hand:

“For you well know, venerable brethren, that at this time men are found not a few who, applying to civil society the impious and absurd principle of “naturalism,” as they call it, dare to teach that “the best constitution of public society and (also) civil progress altogether require that human society be conducted and governed without regard being had to religion any more than if it did not exist; or, at least, without any distinction being made between the true religion and false ones.” And, against the doctrine of Scripture, of the Church, and of the Holy Fathers, they do not hesitate to assert that “that is the best condition of civil society, in which no duty is recognized, as attached to the civil power, of restraining by enacted penalties, offenders against the Catholic religion, except so far as public peace may require.” From which totally false idea of social government they do not fear to foster that erroneous opinion, most fatal in its effects on the Catholic Church and the salvation of souls, called by Our Predecessor, Gregory XVI, an “insanity,” viz., that “liberty of conscience and worship is each man’s personal right, which ought to be legally proclaimed and asserted in every rightly constituted society; and that a right resides in the citizens to an absolute liberty, which should be restrained by no authority whether ecclesiastical or civil, whereby they may be able openly and publicly to manifest and declare any of their ideas whatever, either by word of mouth, by the press, or in any other way.” But, while they rashly affirm this, they do not think and consider that they are preaching “liberty of perdition;” and that “if human arguments are always allowed free room for discussion, there will never be wanting men who will dare to resist truth, and to trust in the flowing speech of human wisdom; whereas we know, from the very teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ, how carefully Christian faith and wisdom should avoid this most injurious babbling.”

“And, since where religion has been removed from civil society, and the doctrine and authority of divine revelation repudiated, the genuine notion itself of justice and human right is darkened and lost, and the place of true justice and legitimate right is supplied by material force, thence it appears why it is that some, utterly neglecting and disregarding the surest principles of sound reason, dare to proclaim that “the people’s will, manifested by what is called public opinion or in some other way, constitutes a supreme law, free from all divine and human control; and that in the political order accomplished facts, from the very circumstance that they are accomplished, have the force of right.” But who, does not see and clearly perceive that human society, when set loose from the bonds of religion and true justice, can have, in truth, no other end than the purpose of obtaining and amassing wealth, and that (society under such circumstances) follows no other law in its actions, except the unchastened desire of ministering to its own pleasure and interests?” (Pope Pius IX, Quanta Cura, December 8, 1864.)

Third, Jorge Mario Bergoglio/Francis distorts history by claiming that the Edict of Milan ushered in the conciliar concept of “religious liberty.”

Wrong.

The Edict of Milan, which was issued by the Emperor Constantine in 313, granted toleration to Christianity in order to stop the persecution of Christians. It was the death-knell of paganism in the Roman Empire as Emperor Theodosius made Christianity the state religion of the empire sixty-seven years later, in the year 380. Holy Mother Church was able to emerge more freely from the catacombs following the Edict of Milan, which foreshadowed her replacing the empire as the very foundation of kingdoms and as the sole of means of human sanctification and salvation.

Each of the six men who have served as the “Petrine Minister” of the counterfeit church of conciliarism has distorted both the truths of the Faith and those of history in order to rationalize their own condemned falsehoods and pastoral practices. They have shown that they did not take truth seriously at all, which is why they must believe that it must be “sought” even though the fullness of Divine Revelation is part of the very Constitution of Holy Mother Church.

Pope Pius XI condemned those who believe that it requires a laborious effort to discover the truth:

This being so, it is clear that the Apostolic See cannot on any terms take part in their assemblies, nor is it anyway lawful for Catholics either to support or to work for such enterprises; for if they do so they will be giving countenance to a false Christianity, quite alien to the one Church of Christ. Shall We suffer, what would indeed be iniquitous, the truth, and a truth divinely revealed, to be made a subject for compromise? For here there is question of defending revealed truth. Jesus Christ sent His Apostles into the whole world in order that they might permeate all nations with the Gospel faith, and, lest they should err, He willed beforehand that they should be taught by the Holy Ghost: has then this doctrine of the Apostles completely vanished away, or sometimes been obscured, in the Church, whose ruler and defense is God Himself? If our Redeemer plainly said that His Gospel was to continue not only during the times of the Apostles, but also till future ages, is it possible that the object of faith should in the process of time become so obscure and uncertain, that it would be necessary to-day to tolerate opinions which are even incompatible one with another? If this were true, we should have to confess that the coming of the Holy Ghost on the Apostles, and the perpetual indwelling of the same Spirit in the Church, and the very preaching of Jesus Christ, have several centuries ago, lost all their efficacy and use, to affirm which would be blasphemy. But the Only-begotten Son of God, when He commanded His representatives to teach all nations, obliged all men to give credence to whatever was made known to them by “witnesses preordained by God,” and also confirmed His command with this sanction: “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be condemned.” These two commands of Christ, which must be fulfilled, the one, namely, to teach, and the other to believe, cannot even be understood, unless the Church proposes a complete and easily understood teaching, and is immune when it thus teaches from all danger of erring. In this matter, those also turn aside from the right path, who think that the deposit of truth such laborious trouble, and with such lengthy study and discussion, that a man’s life would hardly suffice to find and take possession of it; as if the most merciful God had spoken through the prophets and His Only-begotten Son merely in order that a few, and those stricken in years, should learn what He had revealed through them, and not that He might inculcate a doctrine of faith and morals, by which man should be guided through the whole course of his moral life. (Pope Pius XI, Mortalium Animos, January 6, 1928.)

The Edict of Milan was indeed the death-knell of paganism over the course of time just as conciliarism helped to bring it to rebirth yet again and to enshrine it in the name of “respect for religious liberty” and in the liturgy according to the insidious “inculturation of the Gospel” slogan.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio/Francis is simply the latest “Petrine Minister” who does not take such writing “too seriously,” and this is precisely why we don’t him seriously a any kind of Catholic as he is a heresiarch who has expelled himself from the very bosom of Holy Mother Church. Today is the Vigil of Pentecost. What is true of Holy Mother Church from her very beginning on Pentecost Sunday has been true throughout the centuries and is true today: she can never make any terms with error whatsoever:

As for the rest, We greatly deplore the fact that, where the ravings of human reason extend, there is somebody who studies new things and strives to know more than is necessary, against the advice of the apostle. There you will find someone who is overconfident in seeking the truth outside the Catholic Church, in which it can be found without even a light tarnish of error. Therefore, the Church is called, and is indeed, a pillar and foundation of truth. You correctly understand, venerable brothers, that We speak here also of that erroneous philosophical system which was recently brought in and is clearly to be condemned. This system, which comes from the contemptible and unrestrained desire for innovation, does not seek truth where it stands in the received and holy apostolic inheritance. Rather, other empty doctrines, futile and uncertain doctrines not approved by the Church, are adopted. Only the most conceited men wrongly think that these teachings can sustain and support that truth. (Pope Gregory XVI, Singulari Nos, May 25, 1834.)

In the Catholic Church Christianity is Incarnate. It identifies Itself with that perfect, spiritual, and, in its own order, sovereign society, which is the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ and which has for Its visible head the Roman Pontiff, successor of the Prince of the Apostles. It is the continuation of the mission of the Savior, the daughter and the heiress of His Redemption. It has preached the Gospel, and has defended it at the price of Its blood, and strong in the Divine assistance and of that immortality which has been promised it, It makes no terms with error but remains faithful to the commands which  it has received, to carry the doctrine of Jesus Christ to the uttermost limits of the world and to the end of time, and to protect it in its inviolable integrity. (Pope Leo XIII, A Review of His Pontificate, March 19, 1902.)

For the teaching authority of the Church, which in the divine wisdom was constituted on earth in order that revealed doctrines might remain intact for ever, and that they might be brought with ease and security to the knowledge of men, and which is daily exercised through the Roman Pontiff and the Bishops who are in communion with him, has also the office of defining, when it sees fit, any truth with solemn rites and decrees, whenever this is necessary either to oppose the errors or the attacks of heretics, or more clearly and in greater detail to stamp the minds of the faithful with the articles of sacred doctrine which have been explained. (Pope Pius XI, Mortalium Animos, January 6, 1928.)

Please note that Pope Gregory XVI wrote that the truth can be found in the Catholic Church without “even a slight tarnish of error.”

Please note that Pope Leo XIII stressed that the Catholic Church “makes no terms with error but remains faithful to the command which it has received, to carry the doctrine of Jesus Christ to the uttermost limits of the world and to the end of time, and to protect it in its inviolable integrity.”

Please note that that Pope Pius XI explained that the Catholic Church brings forth her teaching “with ease and security to the knowledge of men.”

Anyone who says that this has been done by the counterfeit church of conciliarism, which has made its “reconciliation” with the false principles of Modernity that leave no room for the confessionally Catholic civil state and the Social Reign of Christ the King, is not thinking too clearly (and that is as about as charitably as I can put the matter) or is being, perhaps more accurately, intellectually dishonest. If the conciliar church has brought forth its teaching “with ease and security to the knowledge of men,” why is there such disagreement even between the “progressive” conciliarists and “conservative” conciliarists concerning the proper “interpretation” of the “Second” Vatican Council and its aftermath? Or does this depend upon what one means by “ease and security”?

No, the Catholic Church has never endorsed error in any of her officials documents and we have never seen anything like the apostasies, blasphemies and sacrileges that have characterized the the “magisterium” of the conciliar “popes” in the past fifty-four years now.

Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B., explained in but one sentence the simple fact those steeped in error cannot have any part in the Catholic Church:

 

There is a fatal instinct in error, which leads it to hate the Truth; and the true Church, by its unchangeableness, is a perpetual reproach to them that refuse to be her children. (Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B., The Liturgical Year, commentary on the life of Saint Fidelis of Sigmaringen.)

The true Church, the Catholic Church, has the character of unchangeableness as part of her Divine Constitution, meaning that novelty and innovation and “change” are foreign to her very Divine make-up.

The true Church, the Catholic Church, cannot countenance falsehood and error.

We turn, as always to Our Lady, who holds us in the crossing of her arms and in the folds of her mantle. We must, as the consecrated slaves of her Divine Son, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, through her Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, pray as many Rosaries each day as our states-in-life permit, trusting that we might be able to plant a few seeds for the Triumph of that same Immaculate Heart.

We may not see until eternity, please God and by the graces He sends to us through the loving hands of His Most Blessed Mother, the fruit of the seeds we plant by means of our prayers and penances and sacrifices, given unto the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We must remain confident, however, that Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ wants to us, as unworthy as we are, to try to plant a few seeds so that more and more Catholics in the conciliar structures, both “priests” and laity alike, will recognize that it is indeed a sin to stand by He is blasphemed by Modernists, that He–and His true priesthood–are to be found in the catacombs where no concessions at all are made to conciliarism or its wolves in shepherds’ clothing.
